A Few Tips
News release, news release, news release. Everything seems to hang on the news release. But it does! It's important to send a positive message, represent your company well and stand out to your audience. One thing about being a public relations practitioner is that you absolutely have to cross your t's and dot your i's. You are responsible for sending this information sheet out to the audience. One thing I like to remember is that we are all human, and we will make mistakes; however, we as professionals need to strive to be the best we can be in representing a group, not just ourselves.
In reading the "Press Release Tips From A-Z," my first thought was that it was a long checklist to do before finishing the job. But then I looked closer to take hold of the few points that stood out to me. Quality content and visuals. Having quality content is key. The key states, "Quality content tells an interesting story and is informative, newsworthy, relevant and engaging." Give the readers what they want to see and don't waste their time. Quality information can't be beat. As a PR practitioner, if I can focus on telling informative, newsworthy, relevant and engaging stories, it can be a success. My second is visuals. I am a big time visual girl. Photos and graphics feed my soul of fulfillment in news, media and even journalism. The key states, "Like other contact, high quality and relevant visuals will make the biggest impact." I will always reach for the goal of creating and supplying great visuals for my audience. They are eye catching and can give readers a better understanding of what you may be trying to say. I will always echo visuals, while also trying to be better daily. I need to learn more about lead generation. Linking to or embedding a lead to a press release to generate leads for a marketing program isn't my speciality. Growing my strengths with this would benefit me in my future.
Public relations practitioners are all human, and will make mistakes. It's a fact of the matter; however, people in that position need to strive to be the best possible. Along the way, pick up tips, learn from others and ask for advice. Every bit of critiquing and advice can help lead to success!
*I have added a photo of a press release with visuals. I think it represents my passion in including visuals. From an example on https://www.prezly.com/academy/content-creation/ultimate-guide-visual-press-releases.*
